Our commitment to sustainability

As the founders of RIESENHEMD Hamburg, sustainability is something we take personally. We have consciously chosen to stand apart from fast fashion. Our shirts are made from 100% natural fibres, certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, and manufactured exclusively in Europe under fair working conditions.

Our collections are timeless, classic and functional – largely unchanged from year to year. We create clothes that do not go out of style, but bring genuine pleasure for many years. To help your shirts last as long as possible, we share care and ironing tips to extend their lifespan further.

Upcycling instead of discarding

An old RIESENHEMD is far too good for the bin. Our shirts can be creatively repurposed – for example:

• as new garments such as dresses, skirts or tops
• as practical everyday items such as shopping bags or pillowcases
• as cleaning cloths, insulation or filling material

On our Instagram channel, we regularly share upcycling ideas and inspiration. Shirts in particularly good condition are also well suited for second-hand fashion – a simple way to conserve valuable resources.

The RIESENHEMD textile cycle

When a RIESENHEMD eventually reaches the end of its wearable life, you can simply send it back to us. Our goal is to extend the life of the fabric further and create a genuine textile cycle.

In collaboration with local sewing groups in Hamburg, the returned materials are transformed into new, meaningful items – such as children's blankets. This initiative is supported by a partnership with Hanseatic Help.
