Natural Fibers as a Quality Guarantee
Truly high-quality dress shirts are made exclusively from natural fibres – cotton, linen or silk. Natural materials breathe, feel better against the skin and simply wear better over time.
At RIESENHEMD Hamburg we use exclusively 100% European cotton. It is not only superior in quality to standard cotton, but also more sustainable – grown and processed closer to home, with significantly shorter supply chains.
Weave types adapted to the shirts
Fabric weight – measured in grams per square metre (g/m²) – tells you a great deal about quality. Heavier fabrics (120–140 g/m²) are more structured and durable, while lighter weaves (80–100 g/m²) feel airier but are generally less hard-wearing.
Our fabrics and weaves:
- Poplin (Brussels, Oslo) – a smooth, subtly lustrous surface; the classic business shirt fabric
- Oxford (Vienna, Madrid, Lisbon, Athens) – a textured, basket weave; robust, breathable and wonderfully versatile
- Fil-à-fil (London, Paris) – a fine two-colour weave that creates a subtle depth; elegant and easy to wear
- Herringbone Twill (Zurich) – a diagonal chevron weave; distinctive, structured and naturally shape-retaining
OEKO-TEX® certification as standard
All RIESENHEMD Hamburg fabrics are certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® – one of the world's most stringent certification standards for textiles. Every certified fabric has been tested for harmful substances, guaranteeing materials that are safe, skin-friendly and free from chemical residues.

Our collars are specifically proportioned for tall men:

Innovative Sleeve Details
Function button above the cuff prevents the sleeve from gaping above the wrist – a small detail that many manufacturers overlook, but one that makes a visible difference
Double-button cuffs with two parallel buttons allow for a variable fit at the wrist – ideal whether you wear a watch or not
Double cuffs can be fastened with either the sewn-on buttons or cufflinks – maximum versatility for any occasion
Special Length Features
Extra length for tall men Every RIESENHEMD Hamburg shirt is cut longer than standard – designed for our core customer: tall men. The Zurich, Paris and London go one step further with an additionally extended back torso, ensuring the shirt stays neatly tucked in even after a full 12-hour day.

- Applied placket – reinforced and structured for everyday durability
Contrast lining details Selected styles feature colour-coordinated contrast fabric on the inside of the collar and cuffs – a subtle hallmark of quality that reveals itself only up close.

We design exclusively for men from 190 cm (6'3") and above. This singular focus allows us to perfect every detail for the tall frame – nothing is an afterthought, everything is intentional.
Two Tailored Fits
MODERN FIT LONG For tall men with a lean to average build. Slightly tapered through the body, with two back pleats for ease of movement across the shoulders. A little more room at the waist for all-day comfort.
SLIM FIT LONG For tall men with a slim to very slim build. More strongly tapered, with two back darts for a close, clean silhouette that follows the body without restricting it.
Important Fit Criteria
Perfect sleeve length: 72 cm Significantly longer than standard shirts (64–66 cm) and longer still than most "extra long" models on the market (68–70 cm). Finally, a sleeve that actually reaches the cuff.
Optimal shirt length: approx. 10 cm longer than standard Long enough to stay neatly tucked in – even when bending, reaching or raising your arms.
Correct collar size: one finger's width of room when buttoned Our size range: collar sizes 39–43 (Slim Fit Long) and 41–46 (Modern Fit Long).

8 stitches per centimeter is our standard – significantly more than inexpensive shirts (4-6 stitches). This means: higher durability, less wear, longer lifespan.

Double Yoke: Reinforcement with double fabric for optimal fit and stability.
Felled Seams: All visible seams are folded inward – for a clean, professional appearance.
