RIESENHEMD Hamburg is a family business and produces exclusively shirts in overlength. All our fabrics are 100% European cotton and OEKO-TEX® certified.
100% European cotton
Cotton is the most used natural fiber for men’s shirts, and not without reason: shirts made of cotton are breathable and guarantee a high wearing comfort.
But not all cotton is the same. Cotton is a plant from the mallow family and a very old crop. There are about 50 different varieties of cotton. India, China, USA, Brazil, Pakistan, Turkey and Australia are the most important producers in the world. But also in Europe cotton is produced in Greece, Spain and Bulgaria. Cotton plants need frost-free soil, warm weather, plenty of sun, little rain and plenty of water to grow.
Crucial for the textile industry are the seed hairs from which the cotton fiber is obtained. Seed hairs longer than 30 mm are considered high quality, because they can twist several times and make the yarn more stable.
We have placed a high value on the selection of our fabrics being made from 100% European cotton.
Tested for harmful substances
When selecting our fabrics, we have also attached great importance to the fact that our fabrics are tested for harmful substances. And that the fabric manufacturer can show a corresponding certificate.
We are proud that all fabrics used in our shirts have passed the rigorous testing procedure of OEKO-TEX® and accordingly have a “Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®” certificate. Sustainability is very important to us!
